It can happen to anyone. You take your knife and slowly lower it to the tomato. But instead of a seamless slice, the tomato gets squished and explodes, ruining your chances of chopping it up for your salad. You have two choices in this situation: Get upset and deal with tomato mush, or learn to properly maintain a sharp knife.
